Another AI tool introduced on the app, the automatic audio picker for newly created content, has proved faulty as well. One creator documents how a simple selfie triggered a sound that called him a racial slur.
AI hallucinates and has biases, even when on TikTok. But what about AI content itself?
In 2025, an example of an AI affiliate video posted to the platform had the following top comment: “and do you call this good UGC?” Another video instructing users on how to make these videos received the comment “this is messed up.” Many ultra-viral videos have won millions of views by calling out AI and platforming human creators. The top results when searching “AI” on the platform are largely negative, save for ads.
If your brand champions sustainability, human effort, and creativity, you may want to stay away from leaning on AI, as using it can appear hypocritical to your target audience on TikTok. Furthermore, if you’re aiming to build a community of younger, Gen-Z users, AI use should be limited. 31% of surveyed Gen-Z-ers reported that AI “makes them angry.”
